Richelle Mechem creates landscapes and multi-media abstracts. For both styles, Richelle draws her inspiration from the captivating landscapes of the American Southwest. Born in Santa Fe, Richelle has spent her life exploring the enchanting landscapes of New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona. Richelle's distinctive sculptural, abstract paintings seamlessly fuse various media to capture the allure of geology and astronomy. Her work often incorporates natural elements, such as rocks, shells, and sand, enticing viewers to appreciate the beauty of the natural world through her art.
Richelle holds a double Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Italian from the University of Kansas. She also acquired a K-12 art education degree from Avila University in Missouri. With recent exposure at the Uncanny Valley Gallery and the Avalon Theatre in Grand Junction, Colorado, Richelle continually challenges artistic norms, exploring the intricate bonds between art and the environment.
