Richelle Mechem creates landscapes and multi-media abstracts. Born in Santa Fe, Richelle has spent her life exploring the enchanting landscapes of the Southwest- an endless source of inspiration. Richelle's distinctive sculptural, abstract paintings fuse various media to capture the allure of geology and astronomy. Her work often incorporates natural elements, such as rocks, shells, and sand, enticing viewers to appreciate the spirituality and beauty of the natural world through her art.
Mechem holds a double Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Italian from the University of Kansas. She also acquired a K-12 art education degree from Avila University in Missouri. She has a background in art education, teaching at art centers and public schools, with experience spanning preschool through high school, as well as adult learners. Many Grand Junction galleries and public spaces have hosted her artwork, including an exhibition at the Avalon Theatre in 2023. She has been published in notable magazines and journals, achieving national recognition through her inclusion in the Santa Clara Review.
